It's a quiet day in work. It's likely, in fact, to be a quiet week in work. This is allowing me to catch up on a few bits and pieces that have needed doing for some time, upgrade software, clean up my machine, and actually think about the work I'm doing instead of pushing it out at silly speeds.

It's almost like a holiday after last week...

I have to go out shortly to Dun Laoghaire's sport shops and other such places, and look for a weight-lifter's belt. This is not because I intend to do anything concerning weights, but because such a beast is the ideal chunk of armour for protecting the kidneys. I know I saw such things in sports shops in town, anyway, and I'm hoping it won't be TOO hard to find.

Tonight, I get all strapped up in full armour, and I may even get to actually try this fighting thing for real, with the hitting and getting hit, in advance of Champions of Logh Devnaree at the weekend.

I've also only just remembered (after [livejournal.com profile] inannajones reminded me) that I have a great-kilt, which will cover at least a day's garb for the weekend. Plain tunic and trousers for the rest, and that big black hooded cloak in case it's cold.

Right, got a belt. Not the best ever, but it'll do for the moment. And a pair of shinguards, to go under the trousers; I know they're not required, or even expected, but no harm in having them. People slip, sometimes. Total cost €16, which wasn't bad.

Right. Time to go get beaten with sticks.

There is a big pile of armour on the dining room floor. It needs padding, and some general caretaking. It's great.
