I like working in Dun Laoghaire. It's small enough to seem, well, local. I can go into the coffee shop three doors up, and they know from the time I come in what I want, and start getting it ready as soon as they see me. They also let me run a tab. Then there's the bagel shop in the shoppign centre, where they know that I like the cheddar-and-bacon bagel, give me free frozen yoghurt (ok, they do that for everyone, but still) and occasionally slip an extra stamp onto the loyalty card. I like it when I know enough people around here that someone who works part time in the coffee shop will stop on the street to talk to me, and ask if I'm finished moving house yet - when I haven't told that person I'm moving.
