No updates over the weekend here, sorry. I had The Operation on Friday, so couldn't do much involving moving, and had been promising myself a weekend of sitting around doing whatever I liked. The two combined nicely into a weekend of doing very little other than play Anarchy Online.

I have two characters. One is for playing with other people - [livejournal.com profile] iresprite and [livejournal.com profile] mr_wombat, for the most part. That's Shevon, an Enforcer. The other however, is for me. Antigrade, a Trader. I'm fascinated by the Trader, Fixer, and Engineer classes. The ability to make stuff in a game always grabs me anyway, be it the magical item making feats in D&D, or the alchemy in Arcanum. But this is really fascinating - the hoarding of parts, the combination of them in arcane orders, the trying to find one particular part, the complexity. And then there's the selling, the wheeling and dealing, the trying to get this good or that good, the trying to offload them for more... you can see whole subcultures in the sales channels in the bigger cities. The newcomers, desperately trying to sell single, low-level objects. The extablished folks, who effortlessly produce 10 of a complicated gun.

I'm currently building a particular gun for [livejournal.com profile] iresprite. he supplied me with about 16,000 credits for gear - all of which was needed - and then I have to bring a few skills up to scratch. So I make myself some implants, but to make the implants, I need to raise some more skills, which need implants... it's great.

I've been very unsociable and somehwat grumpy over the last few days - not helped by the fact that my email seems to be busted - and I apologise to anyone who was trying to get some niceness from me. I should be better soon. [livejournal.com profile] olethros has been some sort of saint, though, fetching and carrying stuff for me and bringing me food. Cheers, man.

Hey...

..I was working up towards sending you a "are you ok?" email.

Sorry you're grumpy; glad to "see" you, though.

I like reading those kinda posts... but in this case it was more "what I did at the weekend". And other people can play AO as well, so it's not quite as bad as posting progress in Morrowind, or writing fiction about my Neverwinter Nights Main Campaign character.

Dave having had the hernia nastiness done, operation in vaguely the same location, suggests loo before party and using comfy seat for the duration. Large hardback volume which can be lodged under the stomach and defend the location, cause he claims that even the leaden footedness of a fly can cause agony.
