Swiped blatantly from [livejournal.com profile] hisgreyeyes, the best palindrome ever:

A man, a plan, a canoe, pasta, heros, rajahs, a coloratura, maps, snipe, percale, macaroni, a gag, a banana bag, a tan, a tag, a banana bag again (or a camel), a crepe, pins, Spam, a rut, a Rolo, cash, a jar, sore hats, a peon, a canal-- Panama!

Woah.

I said best, not longest. :)

But that one's terrifying. I wonder if you could get a longer one in Finnish - it's blessed with long words and doubled letters in many places...

Once again...

... the internet produces evidence that there are people out there with waaaaay too much time on their hands.

Wouldn't that be a great website? Dedicated to the people who write computer programs to generate palindromes, to those who build Lego models of Escher drawings, to the guy who produced the animated Star Wars in ASCII, to the guys who built an Ethernet hub into a Teddy Bear and so on.

The book "Expert C Programming: Deep C Secrets" has a good section on generating palendromes just like
that one, if I remember correctly.
