The world is being odd this morning. A perfectly normal looking woman, suit, briefcase, sitting across from me on the train, leaned over and said "I feel strange. Do you feel strange? This isn't my stop, but I'm going to get off here anyway" and did so.

It's raining outside, and it looks all wrong, somehow.

Crap -- sounds like you stepped into a Grant Morrison comic. Be careful!

I've done that. Just got off and walked. I find myself doing it on sunny evenings at Putney Bridge, so I can just watch the river for a while and then stroll over the footbridge that very few people use, despite it having one of the nicest views in London.

Oh, I've done the getting off and walking, all right - the DART runs along by the sea, and there are some nice walks along there; good enough to head that way at weekends, even.

The strangeness was the fact that she actually spoke to me, breaking the traditional silence between strangers on the train, and the oddness of the statement itself...

Re:

Yes, that would never happen on the Tube!

Must admit, when I've been on the DART, I've often wanted to get off at the bird reserve just as you get out of Dublin going south.

I did get off at the beach down by Bray once...

Booterstown, yes. Someday during the summer, I'm going to arrive there at about 07:00, armed with binoculars, camera, and bird book, and spend an hour or so watching.

Which reminds me, I have a bunch of photographs of Dun Laoghaire I should really get online...

It would be nice were it not for the frequent prescence of an almighty stench. I think it's related to tides?

It's the sun, I tell ya - it does odd things to people's heads (or has done, at least).

That sounds like the opening to a novel or something...

I was just thinking that. The words settled into my head and started turning into a short story...and I don't write. Hmmm.
