Yesterday's barbecue/party was, I think, a major success. The first guests who weren't [livejournal.com profile] mooseloon arrived at 11:15, and the last of them left at about 17:30 today (although he'd come back from being elsewhere) - the last people who'd been there continuously left at about 16:00. Between yesterday and and today, we did four cooking sessions (about 10lb of meat and a few veg and other objects at a time), drained about 15 bottles of wine, innumerable cans and bottles of beer, a bottle of port, half a bottle of chartreuse, and most of a bottle of Koskenkorva (Finnish vodka). Plus, I'm sure, lots of other stuff.

There weren't even distinct stages to the party, as far as I could see. There was the bit where it rained, and we went inside, but even that didn't seem to break things. It was just one long flow of merriment until about 03:00, when it was discovered that yes, 60% vodka does make you fall over. And even the calling of medics and the moving of very ill people about became part of the flow of things, as did clearing up today and the late brunch of barbecued stuff... it was all great.

Special thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] caturah, [livejournal.com profile] yrthilian and Grainne for turning up early and helping set up, [livejournal.com profile] wyvernfriend for her chicken skewer fajita things, Claire for her chocolate mousse-not-Moose, and a huge thanks to Ryan (still lj-less as of 19:21) for medical work last night, and washing up today, both of which were hugely appreciated.

Other party reviews have been posted by [livejournal.com profile] inannajones, [livejournal.com profile] metalrabbit, and [livejournal.com profile] wyvernfriend so far, with more to appear, I suspect. We figure there was about 75% lj-enabled-ness last night, if not more.

The next Big One will be at or near Midwinter, and we'll try to arrange something else in the meantime.
