Yesterday evening's shopping was much more productive. Total haul: two pairs jeans (even if one has to be changed, cos it's not the size the label says), four pairs socks, one long sleeved shirt, one woolly sweater. Total cost: 66 euros. That's not bad. (For my American readers, a euro is almost exactly equal to a dollar these days.)

In other news, if I leave the house at 07:30, get on an 18 bus, get off at Sandymount, and get on a DART, I can be in work for 09:30. If I leave slightly after 07:30, get a 19A into town, buy breakfast and coffee from two different shops, eat in a leisurely manner with [livejournal.com profile] inannajones and head to the DART, I can be in work for... 09:30. The bus lanes in Harold's Cross and Camden/Wexford/South Great George's Street appear to make the difference.

The Graduates Common Room in Trinity - where we went to actually eat breakfast - is very cool. Comfortable chairs in small groups, free coffee, papers and more issues of New Scientist than you can shake a log at, and views of College Green and Westmoreland Street. And the room itself is high-ceilinged, and hasn't been modernised too much - it's still very much in the style of Trinity. We haven't had a free place to hang out in town since the demise of Sci-fi, so it's good to have something again.

There're very few people in this morning, and I'm stunning myself with the sheer quantity of work that I'm getting done. It's incredible - there's nobody to interrupt me, nobody to ask me questions, nobody doing anything with the network, nobody taking servers up or down, and I'm sailing through a list of stuff that I expected to take me until Monday lunchtime so fast that I'll have it all done by about 15:00. If only I could do this all the time...
