Someone left a copy of George R R Martin's A Game of Thrones in out place. Whoever you are, you can have it back - after I've read it, and probably after [livejournal.com profile] inannajones has too. It's rather good stuff. I spent yesterday evening reading it, in the first time in a long time that I've been able to just sit and read for an hour straight. I think I need an armchair; the couches just don't cut it for sitting comfort.

Work proceeds at a rate of knots today. This is a good thing, as it allows me to think about tonight's Age of Legends game. I think it's the first game in forever that we're going to have all four players present for, and I'm trying to work out the convergence of material so that I don't actually end up running four - or five - parallel games, but three or even two.

I've been giving some thought of late to the notion of GMing as performance art; I'll write something about it when it becomes clear, if it doesn't evaporate in the meantime. Looking at it, it's in danger of doing just that.

I need to collect up all those index cards I have lying around the place and make some sense of them. I think I'm going to need a second desk in the study, or something. Anyone got a folding table or something that they're not currently using?

Just after 17:00 or so, just after a brief conversation with the Guy I Report To, I sent an SMS to [livejournal.com profile] inannajones, with text of "Argh. Work sucks." By 17:25, I've talked to the Boss and completely changed the tune of that; there's a bit of work out there that could change the site from a kludged together, ugly-back-ended workhorse of a site into a sleek racehorse of some Arabian breeding. Meeting about it on Monday, and hopefully putting an end to about half a million of the things that plague me in this job.

The non-technical communication of it was scary, though.
