gothwalk: (SCA (knight))

SCA Heavy practice last night, and the net result is that I'm stiff as a plank this morning. I've done stretches and everything, and it doesn't seem to be lifting. There were good points and bad points. The good points were that my armour was way more comfortable than it's been before, mainly due to being strapped slightly differently, and that my shield positioning seems to have improved greatly. The bad points were principally all one point; I appeared to be in full-on stupid mode, such that Arthur had to clonk me in the head about six times before I realised that my guard just wasn't working. I also really need to work on keeping the shield up - that's more a matter of developing the arm strength, or at least the specific muscles that keep that chunk of plywood between me and the opponent.

There was post-practice pubbage, too, which is always good. We're building up toward reasonable numbers now - three heavies in armour and fighting this week, which is much better than usual, and I think there were six or seven fencers. This weekend's special practice looks like it'll be very busy.

And we have verbal confirmation that the top room in the hall is ours, to do what we want with. One Guildhall / Shire Den / Meeting Room coming up.
I can feel a bad mood approaching, as it does every three months or so, for no good reason - I assume it's some cycle or other clicking through a reset. My approach to a bad mood is to retreat into my study and growl at everyone from there, in much the same manner as a large dog, for two days or so. As long as I keep in mind that this is coming up, and set aside time for it, it doesn't really affect me otherwise.

It's remarkably difficult to schedule this particular bad mood, though - it may need to wait until the weekend of the 28th or thereabouts. I hope it doesn't sneak up on me in the meantime, and I apologise in advance to anyone who gets a snappier than usual reception - do tell me if this happens, so that I can adjust moods accordingly.
