Beer

I think I may have a new second-favourite beer. Cobra is rather good stuff.

(Erdinger remains in the top place).

Lager is not beer.

You need re-educating. The Fat Cat, in Sheffield, is a temple of learning in which you could achieve enlightenment. :-)

Listen to this man. He speaks words of wisdom. Well, I don't know about The Fat Cat, but you only place Cobra so highly because you haven't educated your palate enough ;)

There are certainly better beers, and I've had some of them.

But a favourite can't be one of the special ones; it's got to be something reasonably prosaic and easy to get hold of. You never hear anyone saying "My favourite food is escargot a la Rochelle with brandy sauce and asparagus" - it's much more usually "Shepherd's Pie", or the like. Hence Erdinger, now available just about everywhere, and Cobra, available in many places. Both good drinkable beers, none of this gourmet stuff.

However, if you fancy coming over (next Sunday looks like a good day) and educating my palate, you'll be very welcome. :)

But if I'm educating your palate I won't be able to get home :)

Besides, I talk a lot of snobby nonsense, but can't actually educate anyone like yer man in Sideways does with wine or anything. I just say things like "This is better. I like this"

I could probably shove in something about complexity and late-hopping and stuff, but I'd be talking out my rear :D

Redmonds really does have some fantastic beers though.

Hm. Educate on Saturday while others take in the Eurovision, and stay over? Or even after if you're one of those aesthetically bankrupt souls who'll be watching the Great Circus.

We're not aesthetically bankrupt, we just like to see how the other half do it :)

Yeah, if I'm around Saturday I'll probably be over for Doctor Who anyway.
