It goes over my head why there is no common language that both factions could speak to some extent.
This is also a major grip of most players on the RP servers (as opposed to PvE and PvP ones) but it's a common enough factor in many MMORPGs. It used to be possible, but was removed in beta due to the nastiness of inter-faction "conversations."
And yes, the "there's a shaky truce" jars very much with the Alliance intro of "all our troops are off fighting the Horde" (the Horde intro does say the truce is still in place).
