"The man chosen to head the Bush administration's wildfire prevention program doubts the existence of ecosystems and says it would not be a crisis if the nation's threatened and endangered species became extinct."

Read more, if you dare.

For fucksake. He "doubts the existence of ecosystems". Hey mate, you heard about some of these other myths like, oh, gravity, light, those things, huh?

Very scary - unfortunately possibly policy coming up from the shrub's administration...

*nods* yep, he's a number-cruncher, not a scientist. Damn bean-counters!

to feed the flames, I'll freely point out that my political interests range from libertarian to republican - with a strong focus on being pragmatic, and retaining civil liberties.

However, I really wish I could smack sense into this man. Just because I see a bunch of environmentalists as off the deep end (and yes, hating environmentalists is practically a past-time in a state where oil, mining, oil, lumber, oil, and fishing, oil, and tourism give us jobs...did I mention oil?) doesn't mean that they don't have a point, and aren't right to some extent.

I could rant for quite a while, but I'll hold temper and fingers to saying that this could possibly be one of the worse moves - good intentions with faulty sight are what get us into far more trouble than anything else. Excuse me, I think I'm going to go write a letter to my congressman.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Showed it to Dave, when he finished spluttering he started ranting, I just wanted to slap him full of sense or senseless whichever happened first, and I have a sneaking suspicion that senseless would be easier
