Wanted: Pub

I’m looking for a pub or coffeeshop in which to hold the Starbound Economics Discussion. Necessities: Decent sized tables, staff who don’t mind strange discussions with papers and laptops, city centre location, quiet on a weekday evening or a weekend afternoon. Food would be a bonus, but isn’t necessary. Wireless intarwub would also be good, but again, not necessary. Your suggestions?

Unless it's changed a lot since I was last there, they're going to look askance at a crowd of people who hang around for more than two hours and argue about fictional economics.

Evidently its changed a lot more since *I* was last there from the sound of it :) Granted, it has been quite a few years but they never really minded when the L5R sessions were played there and dozens of people talked crap about fictional ninjas.

Seconded on cafe moka. In the southside cafe, they used to let the magic gamers have the top floor on tuesday evenings for "E5", where the 5 was realyl two drinks tokens you could refund against the menu. Well worth giving them a call I'd say.

We ran pretty a whole hoo-ha of Ladyfest meetings a few years ago from the Library Bar in the Central Cafe. The Mor Festival crowd used to use it a lot for meetings too. Haven't been there since, uh, 2004, and I don't know how big a crowd you could comfortably fit (I'd say 8 or so) but it might be worth checking out.

The Westmoreland on Westmoreland street has been hosting our bookcrossing group, they've been quite good about letting us leave the books behind and everything.

THe Library Bar can be a bit snappy about groups, the bookcrossers got turfed into the hallway for being too large and occasionally they get a bit arsey about it being a residents bar, but only when the group gets larger than about 10 or so.

The Forum Bar on Dame Street is quiet weekday evenings (though if there's football on, they'll have it on the telly), and they're used to the IGA having meetings there.

Er... when I say "they", I mean the one barman I've ever seen there...

And, generic Fibbers. The front part, weekday evenings, is usually quiet and they're definitely used to gamers...

The Library Bar in the Central Hotel comes to mind, or downstairs in the Westmoreland.
