gothwalk: (look at this)

I like fonts. If I had time, I would probably assemble huge collections of fonts, all tagged and categorised, and maybe print out short bits of text and stick them on walls and things.

Usually, I can get away with free ones. However, I really covet Authentic Ink, which costs $25.

What fonts do you like?

Much like all information, but an ex-girlfriend once nearly killed me for following that principle too closely.

I've recently discovered Futura Md BT.

I don't recall at this point in time what the discussion was about, but I have a clear recollection of responding to something [livejournal.com profile] metalrabbit was annoyed with me over with "Information wants to be free". Her counter-response was not a part of what's normally called 'discussion'.

I had a dream where the main character was called Corisande, so I googled for it in the morning and found it was a village in Cornwall and also this font, which I think is lovely, all clean and spare. But it costs money. Woe.

Ooo, that is lovely.

I quite like the one used here: http://flickr.com/photos/mollydot/2492397981/in/set-72157605056716128/

It is free, but I'd need to dig up the info.

Was the information something really embarrassing, then? :)

It's entirely possible that it was. I have no idea now what it was, though.

That's a lovely font, and well worth $25 in my opinion. It's a hell of a lot of work to define something like that!

I like these, and the Microsoft ones that have at least WGL4 coverage—and lots of free online fonts have trouble with managing all of ASCII :-) . The preview on that site doesn't accept ſ, long s, in the Sample text box for Authentic Ink, but the font itself may well do so, which would be good, because you need it to do Fraktur correctly. But I suppose the designer is aiming at English-speaking folk who want tattoos, not German-speakers who want to typeset the Grimms' fairy tales in the original script.

Frutiger - distilled purity.
Gill Sans - Whatever it says, it says Gill Sans (remember that, Bluedevi?)
Rotis Serif - clean, modern, stylish yet formal.
