I wandered out to use my hour of lunchtime in some hunting for stuff. I needed an eggtimer, or something of the sort, so that I can prevent segments of Age of Legends from running overtime. It's a three-minute timer, so the game can run in three, six, or nine-minute segments - I'm in favour of six, I think. And I needed an adaptor for the new position of my desk, so I can use laptop and desk lamp at the same time. I found the adaptor without too much hassle. But finding the egg-timer took for EVER. I tried every stuff shop, junk shop, charity shop and hardware shop in Dun Laoghaire, I think.

However, in my travels, I also noticed Dun Laoghaire library being open, and pounced on the oppurtunity to go in and join. I was signed up in seconds, which was nice, and got myself five books: The Rise and Fall of the East India Company, Brooks's A Social History, Imperial China, Byzantine Civilisation and William Gibson's Idoru, which I was sure I'd read before, but which looks unfamiliar all the same. I have them until the 29th. While the books are very battered, I like the feel of the library - a good place, and the staff were very pleasant.

The Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown library service has it's catalogue online. If you go through the dlrcoco.ie web site you should be able to get there. The catalogue is serchable online, so you can actually find out if they have a book before requesting it!!!
