Quick note on a truly bizarre thing that's floated to my attention. Apparently, Yahoo are altering incoming html mail to yahoo.com addresses - simple word replacements. One of the changes they're making is to replace "eval" with "review". That shouldn't change the sense of things much, right? Wrong. Medieval becomes Medireview. The bizarre thing is that this has evidently been going on for a while - long enough for people to recieve texts containing "Medireview" at their yahoo addresses - and post them, in many cases unaltered, on web pages. Look, for example, at Tuscany Adventures' Medieval Ride, wherein you may climb "up an ancient medireview stone road", and enjoy the "Medireview Treasures of Tuscany". NTK figure it's to prevent cross-site scripting attacks in HTML email, and give a list of the changes here. Nice going, yahoo. (Google search for more "Medireview")

I recall a thread about this in one of the YG group-owners lists, the closest thing to Support since Yahoo dumped or gagged all the helpful tech people. The word substitutions puzzled and outraged people for a while but as with all of Yahoo's other eccentricities, there's no avenue of contact with them over it so it was shelved for whatever part of the system broke next and needed to be worked around.

This has been happening to me for about two years. I kind of like it--it's a little bizarre, quirky, completely illogical thing that amuses me.

Now I'm sure no-one has an answer but I have to ask - Why?!?!?

Wow, I was wondering about this -- I thought maybe medireview was a the new politically correct way to say medieval and that facial statements were far more en vogue than facial expressions nowadays :)
