Just sent:

Dear Minister Cowen;

I'd like to add my voice to those protesting the American troops and warplanes currently landing and taking off in Shannon. This is a clear, obvious violation of Irish neutrality, and I'd like to hear some explanation of it. In addition, since no explanation of it can possibly justify it, I'd like it to stop.

You are an elected representative of the people of Ireland. The people of Ireland wish their elected representatives to adhere to the constitution. If you believe that that part of the constitution is out of date, please grant us a referendum, rather than taking action without it.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew Shiel.

Actually,. technically....

..we're no longer neutral, apparently. We signed our neutrality away several decades ago. I mean, really away. They just never told us. I only heard this recently from someone in the know, who shouldn't have told me. But it makes sense. I mean, we have been working with (possibly part of, my source wasn't clear) NATO for some time now. I was shocked to say the least. But it does explain things.
