How bizarre: The Hawaiian Kingdom is seeking freedom from US occupation. I'm not sure if this is a hoax or serious.

Sigh

I'm pretty sure it's real, so just chalk it up as another example of the world as it is today. Call me an imperialist dog (which I probably am), but I think the whole thing's a load of crap.

Re: Sigh

Should that be just "Imperialist Dog", or "Mister Imperialist Dog"?

Would it do much to the US economy to let Hawaii go? I suspect that keeping it supplied while keeping actual prices of goods there down must have to be fairly heavily subsidised (or are prices very high?). Areas of countries seceding and split-ups in general seem to have been a theme of the late 90s / early 00s - see the Former Yugoslavia, which I think is now six countries, and various parts of Central Africa.

Hmmm. I'd say "Mister Imperialist Dog". Just sounds better. As for Hawaii and the economy, prices are really high for goods there, particularly after the terrorist attack. Honestly, I don't know how much anything is subsidized, if at all. It's just the principle of the thing. I'd really hate to see the USA start breaking up. I mean, if Hawaii secedes, you just know Texas is going to be next ;)
