Yesterday was a long, long day. After a full day in work, I met Dad on the way home, we piocked up
inannajones from Hollybank, and we went to Mount Argus to do some more moving. We packed, stacked and moved vast quantities of stuff. I think there was about 4 cubic metres of stuff - that's over a hundred cubic feet for the Americans in the audience - and a fair proportion of it was books. We finished up at about 23:45. There are still some stiff points in my back and shoulders, but I'm feeling better than I expected.
I also got a desk - an old table/desk that Dad had in the van as a saw table. It's very battered, and quite covered in sawdust inside, so I'll be spending a bit of this evening cleaning it up. I'm debating on what to do with it to make it look decent - I could repaint it (it was black, originally) and possibly do some stencilling or something, or I could strip all the paint off it and varnish it (except I suspect that the top is chipboard, not real wood), or I could put a cover on it. I'm thinking a leather-topped desk would be nice - how much does leather or something artificial and convincing cost? Two square metres would be enough, I think, and then some nice brass tacks to pin it underneath.
Today is another gorgeous day - it was -2°C at Dublin Airport at 08:30, so it's clear and sunny out there. I'm going to try to ignore it and get some work done, so that I can swipe some time at lunch to write a piece for
davonian on the White Order. If any of you out there want information on particular aspects of Davon, this would be a good time to ask.
