A pro-war viewpoint, quoted with permission:

War for oil? Ok by me. Human rights abuses aren't enough to justify a war.

And this isn't taken out of context - the surrounding text was to back it up. A later reply confirmed that yes, the writer regards their own comfort as more important than the lives of others.

I'm kind of stunned by this - left staggered, mentally, unable to respond to something so alien to my own morality. There's something wrong with a world where someone can grow up thinking like that.

I was discussing this war with a co-worker, someone I like and generally agree with and get along with. Among other things she said that she honestly considered American lives more important than non-American, on both an emotional and intellectual level. I was floored, it was totally unexpected....maybe it shouldn't have been....but the idea that the life of a member of the US military is more important than that of an Iraqi civilian doesn't make sense to me. Anyway, just one of the little things bothering me this week.
