AO

Hm. Anarchy Online, while still pleasing, is losing its shine. Arranging to be on at the same time as other people I know isn't easy, and without the interaction with other people, there's not a whole lot to do beyong killing things and improving equipment. Which is cool, but...

It could really use some quests (OK, missions) where you have to think a bit. Even the Fedex quests from the BG games would do nicely, and something with some character interaction with NPCs would be even better. I know that with however many thousand players, not everyone can see the plot stuff happening, but surely sub-plots could happen?

So... looking for something more from an MMORPG. Taking recommendations. What's Everquest like in terms of long-term satisfaction? Asheron's Call?

Admittedly, AO will improve as I know more people playing...

You might be waiting a while longer then :) Its new release date is Q1 2004 last I heard, then you have to deal with the usual year or so of debugging. The whole "1 player 1 character" thing is off putting too. I'll probably play it about a year and a bit after the release whenever that happens.

As to playing AO, we need some sort of mailing list or some way of organising the times we're on together. Unfortunately yahoo groups are barred in work now and group mails are on the iffy side of legitimate in work.

I'll be on tonight between 8 and 11 I think.
