AO

Hm. Anarchy Online, while still pleasing, is losing its shine. Arranging to be on at the same time as other people I know isn't easy, and without the interaction with other people, there's not a whole lot to do beyong killing things and improving equipment. Which is cool, but...

It could really use some quests (OK, missions) where you have to think a bit. Even the Fedex quests from the BG games would do nicely, and something with some character interaction with NPCs would be even better. I know that with however many thousand players, not everyone can see the plot stuff happening, but surely sub-plots could happen?

So... looking for something more from an MMORPG. Taking recommendations. What's Everquest like in terms of long-term satisfaction? Asheron's Call?

Admittedly, AO will improve as I know more people playing...

Regarding other MMOs

They're all largely the same, Everquest is even worse in terms of what you mention, Dark Age of Camelot has some proper Quests but has insanely slow level progression.

AO actually has some NPC based quests, try www.anarchyarcanum.com for a few of them, there are more thans listed there and I'm trying to find out more about them.

And for more of them, try here

There are also the dungeons like the subways, which occur in every MMO there is but if we want to get into the game properly, we all need to get together for several hours, buy up masses of ammo and head for a good hunting spot like the oasis and go crazy. An evening there will set us up real nice. You've also got the personal quests, like building the real nice guns and grabbing lumps of carbon rich rock.

Personally I really want to do the living cyber armor quest myself.
