thor
You are Thor, The son of Odin. Thor is the god of
thunder and the main enemy of the giants. He
would smash their heads with his mighty hammer
Mjllner. To wield this awesome weapon he needed
iron gloves and a belt of strength. Mjllnir
returns to Thor's hand after being thrown and
is symbolic of lightning. Thor would ride
around middle-earth in his wagon drawn by two
goats, His abode was Thruthheim [Land of
Strength] and his hall, Bilskinir. His wife was
Sif.
He was foremost of the gods to the common man, who
would call on him to ensure fertility, and
widely worshiped.

Thor's Hammer is called Mjöllnir not Mjllnir... but then again they may not be capable of doing a ö

How appropriate!

(Now, did you and [livejournal.com profile] inannajones rig your answers or not? Inquiring minds want to know...)

I don't believe that we did. I could see what was coming, of course; the "most valuable possession" question is rather a giveaway. But other than that, no.

I said my most important possession is my hammer, although I was taking it in a sort of vague, mystical and metaphorical sense, not the concrete (oo-er), earthy and metaphorical way that would be more appropriate for the day that's in it.

I ain't afraid of no Giants, though.

Odin is Thor's father?? I don't remember that... I *do* remember a row about this or the reverse (ie, Odin being Thor's dad or Thor being Odin's dad) which was only explained by realising that "The Witchs' God" made a mistake there... is there something I'm missing? If so, I could seriously annoy some Asatru, which can be fun (if hazardous).

Well, according to Our Troth - about as authoritative a book as you can get, really, Thonar is the son of the Earth and Wodan. (Germanic names, obviously)

You're right - I got the argument the wrong way round. Someone was suggesting that Thor was Odin's father, which is a lot less feasible (and would presumably make Thor the Allgrandfather, which I don't think is in the Eddas...). I shall go do remedial reading on Norse sagas now.
