Odin is Thor's father?? I don't remember that... I *do* remember a row about this or the reverse (ie, Odin being Thor's dad or Thor being Odin's dad) which was only explained by realising that "The Witchs' God" made a mistake there... is there something I'm missing? If so, I could seriously annoy some Asatru, which can be fun (if hazardous).

Well, according to Our Troth - about as authoritative a book as you can get, really, Thonar is the son of the Earth and Wodan. (Germanic names, obviously)

You're right - I got the argument the wrong way round. Someone was suggesting that Thor was Odin's father, which is a lot less feasible (and would presumably make Thor the Allgrandfather, which I don't think is in the Eddas...). I shall go do remedial reading on Norse sagas now.
