Up at 05:00 this morning to head to the airport and meet [livejournal.com profile] mooseloon. We passed each other in the airport, looking at each other, and then each of us looked over our shoulders at the same time. It was very U2 video, or maybe that was just me at some minutes after 6 in the morning, without coffee.

Got back home, installed her in the spare room, provided as much direction as possible for getting to and from the city centre, and started out for work - and wasn't even that late, which is great.

Arm still stiff and sore from the pell work - it's a pity there's no useful scale of pain, because if there was, I'd be able to ask "Is it supposed to be this sore, or am I hitting too hard?".

I'm debating back and forth between Irish and Norse for the SCA name - I could use a perfectly respectable "Daithi O'Siadhail" for the Irish one (Irish version of my own middle and surname), but there's a certain appeal to the Norse notion as well...

I've been an SA member for years, but not actively enough to do the persona thing. I've sort of vaguely thought that when I did, I'd choose to be a Celtic-Norse hybrid of some sort, and so able to incorporate my interests in both...

You can have a name that reflects as many as two languages, if I remember all the rules correctly. Heck, I'm Ariel (Hebrew -- and you gotta know the hoops I jumped through to pass it as a female name -- I was the first person in the entire SCA to do that :) of Lindisfarne... Two languages there. :)

And you can always register an alternative persona as well -- be that person that day. I know a guy with a Lapp persona (Bjarg can't remember the rest of it :) who, when he fences, becomes Don Jean-Eric. Yes, pun on his wearing black and white fencing garb from the days that generic groceries in the US were sold in white and black packaging. And yes, Ulf, he's a herald. ;)
