According to this report, the folks holding prisoners in Iraq are using Sesame Street, Barney, and Metallica for interrogation purposes.

I have no idea what to think of this.

I don't know what to think of it either. Didn't they do something similar to Manuel Noriega, when he was holed up in his compound? I get that if it weren't for the sleep deprivation aspect of it it probably wouldn't qualify as torture as such (merely severely annoying), but sleep deprivation genuinely is torture.

I wonder how Metallica and the producers of Sesame Street and Barney feel about this...

I could see Barney and/or Metallica, though i suspect they're against the Geneva Convention. Sesame Street rocks, though! (Or did, 15 years ago or so)

I think after ten minutes of Barney, I'd tell them everything they wanted to know.

I heard this on the radio driving to work this morning (Radio 4). Basically, it's meant to be very annoying -- playing Sesame Street over and over and over again -- hundreds of times, day and night.

Aren't there laws about "cruel and unusual punishment"? Oh, wait, what am I saying? US Military and laws? Never mind.

Does this count as a performance for the purpose of royalties? 1000 plays of one song? Must be worth a few dollars to somebody.
