I'm going to twist the interview meme a little bit here. I don't wish to choose someone to interview me. Instead, I want you to post five questions (or three or seven, or whatever) here, and let me know if you want a set in return. I'm sure even the reluctant folks (*glances [livejournal.com profile] shadesongwards and whistles inncocently*) can manage a couple of questions. G'wan. They're triangular.

Okay. I'm game.

1. What's your superpower?

2. If you had the choice of either saving the world or the person you value the most, which would you choose and why?

3. Here's Five million euros (You use euros there, no?). You have three days to spend it. What are you going to do?

4. How should one live?

5. If you met Jesus of Nazareth, Gandi, the Buddha/ (fill in name of philosopher here), what would you say?

Okay my turn. :)

Re: Okay. I'm game.

1. What's your superpower?

What, just one? Deep memory (I may not remember a given fact immediately, but sooner or later, I'll recall it and a dozen related facts). The ability to locate a lost object, as long as I've seen it before. And mutant zen calm.

2. If you had the choice of either saving the world or the person you value the most, which would you choose and why?

Person. Because it's [livejournal.com profile] inannajones. The world wouldn't be much use without her.

3. Here's Five million euros (You use euros there, no?). You have three days to spend it. What are you going to do?

Buy four houses. One in Dublin, one in the Irish countryside, one in Helsinki, one in the Finnish countryside, stock all three with furniture, computers, and libraries, and sink the rest into gold, so I never have to work again.

4. How should one live?

Honestly and openly, doing the most good with any action that you can, and the least harm.

5. If you met Jesus of Nazareth, Gandi, the Buddha/ (fill in name of philosopher here), what would you say?

"Buy you a pint?"

And now your questions:

1. What is the sight you've seen you'd most like as a painting?

2. What piece of music moves you most?

3. Given only these options, would you live underwater, in space, or on another planet?

4. Is there a fantasy world, setting, or milieu you'd step into rather than stay in this world?

5. What do you want to be doing in twenty years time?

From: [identity profile] silja.livejournal.com

Interesting twist. So, with much randomness....
1. If you could be a supernatural being, what would you be and why?
2. Did you ever sign an email with a rp character's name without meaning to? Details!
3. You get given one million, but may not spend it on yourself (family and frineds is ok). What would you do with it?
4. What colour is your bedroom?
5. Favourite desert?
6. In your next life, what would you like to be reborn as?

Yes please can I also have some questions. Will most likely not answer them till Monday though as away for weekend.

1. If you could be a supernatural being, what would you be and why?

That's difficult. In "ordinary" myths, I can't choose anything - the creatures whose powers appeal to me come from cultures I don't identify much with. But I suppose I'd be a dragon, given that they can do pretty much anything eventually.

2. Did you ever sign an email with a rp character's name without meaning to? Details!

No, but I've answered the phone as Irichallanak, an evil bastard ally of the PCs in the Legend of Ages game. Irichallanak would give Magneto a good run for his money, and he answers the phone with a flat "Speak."

3. You get given one million, but may not spend it on yourself (family and frineds is ok). What would you do with it?

I'd buy all the gear possible from my answer to [livejournal.com profile] gmcaddicted above, and give it to [livejournal.com profile] inannajones. :)

4. What colour is your bedroom?

A pleasant enough blue, I think.

5. Favourite desert?

Tough question. I think, overall, trifle.

6. In your next life, what would you like to be reborn as?

A cat or a dolphin, if not human again.

Er. Age of Legends, not Legend of Ages.

Coffee. More coffee.
ext_34769: (Default)

From: [identity profile] gothwalk.livejournal.com

And your questions:

1. You have been given the power to make one currently living human immortal. Who gets it, and why?

2. What got you into roleplaying games?

3. Do you think there's a possibility we're in the Matrix?

4. Tell me what you'd put on a compilation CD to send into space.

5. What is the most important thing?

From: [identity profile] silja.livejournal.com

1. Hmmm... that would depend on whether I'd do it to honour someone or to make them miserable ;*) I'd guess it would go to His Holiness, the XiV Dalai Lama, because I admire what he has done for Tibet and peace in general.

2. Simon did.

3. No; relity is questionable, but not that much.

4. I am assuming this is a music CD here, not CD Rom, and no peoms, rules etc are allowed. Therefor, World music of all different ages and cultures, whale songs, classical musci, music with all different beats. NBasically my CD would run the gammut of every type of music imaginable.

5. Love

1. What shape is your soul?

That's difficult to answer. Sometimes I think Bear, sometimes I think Sea Otter. Sometimes I think Beast from the X-Men. Definitely hairy, anyway. Big. Bear seems to cover it, on consideration.

2. What made you fall in love with your wife? ;)

Can I plead the fifth, no? Wrong country. OK:

A perfect combination of wit, charm, beauty, and intelligence, alongside the slow realisation that she made me feel complete, where I hadn't felt so before.

3. Describe an honourable man.

Someone who tries his best, who acts to do most good and least harm, who faces the enemy with sword in hand, and protects his people.

4. If you had to choose to become one of your NPCs, who would you be? Why?

Rodin, no competition, no question. Because he's the closest there is to the answer to 3, above, and because he's never lost for an answer or a solution.

5. What is real?

That which we choose to perceive as real. Reality is by choice and will.

(Woah. Where'd that come from?)

Your questions:

1. Choose one spell you'd want to be able to cast innately, like Rodin's gate. Why that one?

2. If you could choose one experience (not necessarily one of your own) and have everyone in the world experience it, what would it be?

3. What is your mutant power?

4. What science, art, or other discipline do you think the world would miss least were it to have never existed?

5. What makes you happiest?

From: [identity profile] syleth.livejournal.com

1. What's the next thing you want to learn how to do?
2. What are you most proud of in your life?
3. How long does it take you to make difficult decisions?
4. Do you meditate, and if so, how?
5. What's your plan?
ext_34769: (Default)

From: [identity profile] gothwalk.livejournal.com

1. What's the next thing you want to learn how to do?

Speak Finnish, although I'm working on that, so I'm not sure it's "next". After that, learn how to make armour.

2. What are you most proud of in your life?

Making it this far without a degree, I think.

3. How long does it take you to make difficult decisions?

About an hour, usually. It varies. There's that difference between difficult and important. Important decisions can often be made very fast. Difficult ones can be what kind of sandwich to buy.

4. Do you meditate, and if so, how?

I spent a majority of my spare time between the ages of 14-16 meditating - most a kind of zen meditation, other times flame meditation or sensory concentration.

I still use the sensory concentration one a fair bit, not always consciously - sometimes you'll see me staring into space, that's when I'm zoning out on a sound, or gazing raptly at the back of my hand. And I get a certain meditatory buzz from being buried in the bitstream, sometimes - sitting with ten browser windows open, a talker, a few IM programs, music, and something to write about.

I don't use the zen or flame meditations as much as I used to. Perhaps I should do more.

5. What's your plan?

There is no plan. Plans are lists of things for the universe to mess with. Some intentions, and knowing what you want, rather than how to get there, works much better.

Do you want questions?

1. What's the one food you think everybody should try?

2. What do you intend to be doing in twenty years time?

3. You've been given the power to remove one historical person from existence - like they never existed. Who's erased from the history books?

4. What directions do you see theatre and stage performace in general in Ireland and Europe moving in the next twenty years? More of the same, or is there something startling and new on the horizon?

5. If you could have instant mastery, Matrix-style, of any one skill, what would it be?

From: [identity profile] syleth.livejournal.com

1. What's the one food you think everybody should try?
was talking about olives earlier, which brought them to mind. (Un)Fortunately, with olives, it's not enough to taste them to develop a tolerance/love. You actually have to eat them for a while before you like them. So I think everyone should give them a try for a while at least. Also, italian pizza with truffles as a topping. It's like savoury chocolate.....

2. What do you intend to be doing in twenty years time?
I intend to be at high-management level in an IT section of a large financial institution. I intend to still travel to one new city every year. I indend to still have my friends in my life. I indend to own my own dwelling and to have come back to Ireland after having lived abroad for a while. I intend to be (in some way) part of a spiritual community. Partner, kids? who knows. It might be nice, but I'll be a different person in 10 years time, not to mind 20, and knowing me, my opinions on these things change radically and frequently.

3. You've been given the power to remove one historical person from existence - like they never existed. Who's erased from the history books? Predictably enough - Hitler. As much for the 25 million Russians who died in WW2 as for the suffering of the Jews.

4. What directions do you see theatre and stage performace in general in Ireland and Europe moving in the next twenty years? More of the same, or is there something startling and new on the horizon? Cool question! I like Holland's idea of theatre festivals which are like music festivals - huge outdoor, 20,000 people, 100 theatre groups from all over the place, multiple stages... sounds perfect!
Theatre in Ireland? I think there's been a gradual move in favour of theatre with the minimum of actors - a recognition that audiences are happier to identify with the single person on stage, rather than to following a complex plot. In particular, one-man-shows are growing in popularity (see the success of James X last year). Also, I think there's a move away from the old themes of "Romantic Ireland's dead and gone" and "They beat us with sticks", and a real effort to embrace more relevant themes. I also think that Ireland is slowly opening up to theatre-outside-traditional-theatres - more outdoor performances, more bizarre performances (the strangest yet had to be the one in the bathrooms of St Stephans Green), more performances in pubs and restaurants (The International and Bewleys in particular). As far as I am concerned, it's a great idea, and will hopefully get more people interested.
European theatre - Worldwide, there's a resurgance of very physical theatre, the actors are accentuating their performances with physical feats. It's not as gimicky as you'd think. Things like Risk Reduction (ok, well they're australian), Sabooge Productions, Rex Levitates Dance Co. I think it's great - but then again I'm hardly a purist.

In short, the Abbey, the Gate, the Gaiety will be showing the same old stuff for the next blah years, some of which is brilliant, some of which is classics, much of which is just dated. However there's enough Irish interest in the little theatres that small european and american productions are being brought over more often, which can only be a good thing. Now if only Galway Arts Festival would get their thumb out...

5. If you could have instant mastery, Matrix-style, of any one skill, what would it be? Photography - the ability to put into the little box exactly what I see in my eye.

From: [identity profile] gothwalk.livejournal.com

1>who would you have write your soundtrack?

I'm varying between Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull, if he promised to stick to the sound and spirit of Songs from the Wood; Ronan Harris of VNV Nation, and Weird Al. It depends on the mood I'm in.

2>If you could change one aspect of reality what would it be?

The idea that land is a tradable and/or ownable commodity would become impossible. It'd change a lot of history, but it'd be for the better.

3>Given your choice of centuries where would you be?

Now. All the times I'd rather be in are in other worlds, not this one. And I don't want to jump into the future, either, it's arriving plenty fast.

4>Are you content with RPGS being games or would you rather live them?

I'd far rather live them. I do, in a way - most of my spare time is absorbed by them, and I spend more time thinking about my game world than I do this one.

5>What would you say is the most important aspect of your life at this exact moment?

[livejournal.com profile] inannajones. Too easy a question. :)

1. Who is your hero? Or heroes?
2. In what do you place your faith?
3. Would you travel to a space colony, if you could bring all your friends and family with you?
4. What's your theme tune?
5. What is the most important part of your identity?

From: [identity profile] bardiphouka.livejournal.com

1. Who is your hero? Or heroes?

I have never quite decided what a hero is. hmm..Ursala K le Guin for changing Sf. Michael Collins for changing history. I imagine if I thought more about the term there would be more.

2. In what do you place your faith?

That there will always be something new tomorrow. I do believe in a higher deity, and believe that She has a sense of humour. And is a strong enough parent/lover to let me make my own mistakes.

3. Would you travel to a space colony, if you could bring all your friends and family with you?

L5 or a new planet? I am not sure I would spend the rest of my life on an artificial environment, but the idea of having an entire world to play in and explore is grand indeed.

4. What's your theme tune?

Like you,I think it varies by mood. I think the song I will write after I finish this one? Right now I am working on a song cycle about the Hosting that I would rather NOT use as a theme song.

5. What is the most important part of your identity?

Not sure. My ability to love? Or to maintain hope regardless of what is going on (and the two are often tied together these days.)

I'll give this a bit of a bash...

Would you suffer the same fate as Narcissus (the bloke who stole fire unless I’m mistaken)? (Revolutionise the world and its people only be punished!)

Which sense could you live without?

Would you condemn yourself to free another? (Either spiritually or judicially)

I’m giving you one chance to do one thing…anything…what would that ‘thing’ be?

Finally, Italy or France?

From: [identity profile] eng-monkey.livejournal.com

Re: I'll give this a bit of a bash...

Oops that first question shoulda been Prometheus! Not Narcissus...depends though...you spend too much time staring vacantly into a mirror?
And my turn...if you wish...or have you grown hidoeusly bored with all this?

Re: I'll give this a bit of a bash...

The stealing of fire from the gods is one of those myths that comes up all over the world. But I think yes, I'm one of those noble fools.

Which sense could you live without?

Scent. I'd miss it, though.

Would you condemn yourself to free another? (Either spiritually or judicially)

It depends. If they're innocent, and I know it, and they can do the world more good than I can... maybe.

I’m giving you one chance to do one thing…anything…what would that ‘thing’ be?

As I replied to Bardi, above, remove the idea that land is an ownable/tradable commodity from the realm of possibility.

Finally, Italy or France?

Italia.

Why Italy?
Everyone is supposed to say France!

Oh well, if you *must* be different.

Just in case you're not hideously bored with this by now (if you are, don't worry - I realise it's so the day before yesterday), here's another set:

1. What will be the sign that you have made it and can stop trying?
2. What is a common misconception of you that people seem to have?
3. Leaving aside the filthy lucre aspect, name a book or film that you'd really love to have created (and say why).
4. Would you move to a colony on another planet?
5. What would the you of ten years ago be most surprised at were he to meet you today?

Now me? (But see above.)
