Dun Laoghaire seems to be devoted to being surreal these days. Yesterday in the supermarket, I saw a woman pushing a stroller, in which was a small dog, fully dressed as a baby, and looking quite at ease and comfortable. Instead of a bottle tucked into a side pocket, there was a packet of dog biscuits.

This morning, perched on top of a skip full of branches, stones, topsoil, and other outdoor debris, were a slightly battered looking Hewlett Packard printer, with a label on it saying "No. 7", and a pair of nice, fairly new looking men's brogues, with no laces.

It's gorgeous weather, it's Friday, there's a game tonight for which I have Ideas of Some Evilness, and the Head Marketeer isn't in today, nor will she be at all next week. Colour my mood much improved.

oK, showing my ignorance here: what's a skip? Other than passing over something, or as a way of moving, I'm not familiar with that usage of the word.

Read "dumpster", I think, in purpose if not shape. A big metal box, about 8 feet by 20 feet by 6 feet deep, meant to be filled with rubbish, and lifted onto the back of a specially designed truck and taken away for emptying.
