[livejournal.com profile] inannajones pointed me at the fact that there's a Temple of Elemental Evil CRPG coming out. So naturally, I went to have a look for details, and I found that it's running on a modified version of the Arcanum Engine. You can't see me right now, and that's good, because the drooling is unbecoming. Also, one of the developers uses the phrase "super buttery" as a term of approval. You can read more about it, as I'm doing, here.

It is, again, too hot. It is also clammy and still, and we needed a fan running in the bedroom last night to get to sleep. I thought I saw a flash of lightning from the train, but it wasn't. A brief thunderstorm would at least break the stillness. I would kil - well, maybe not kill, but petty theft is certainly on the cards - for iced coffee of some kind right now, but Dun Laoghaire remains curiously devoid of branches of Cafe Sol, Insomnia, or Coffee Society.

Although I've just been told someone heard thunder outside a few minutes ago.

Mmm, iced coffee. I could go for some of that right now, too.

"...'super buttery' as a term of approval." It's long but I like it! :)

Someone heard thunder outside you there... 'Scardy-cat' me turns computer off and unplugs it even, at the sound of thunder. Yes, even with a surge-protector. How's that for your laugh for the day???????? >,-)

I used to do that until last year, myself. Still would, if we weren't in an area with plenty of other tall things for lightening to hit first, and with surge protectors all over the place. Besides, I don't think work will take "there's thunder" as a reason for me to shut down my machine. :)

I fondly remember many late nights in my adolescence spent converting the Temple of Elemental Evil into Rolemaster terms because I had stalked off from D&D in disgust after Unearthed Arcana came out. I may have to give that game a look when it's out...

Coffee is good. Coffee is beneficial. Coffee is necessary to enjoy life.

Iced coffee, on the other hand, is a perverted aberration!

Arcanum will always hold a dear place in my heart as my first computer RPG. It's a damn good one too. I loved the concept of technology and magic together in such a way, and I really wish they would do a second game (unfortunately, I don't think it sold that well). There are just too many possibilities with the world (and too many cool gadgets to make) to let the game fade into obscurity. I'm also excited about Temple of Elemental Evil, though I can't say I've ever played the original module, having never had the chance to play any non PC RPG games in my entire life. Sad, but true.
