It's very quiet in work today - four of the people I can normally see and hear from here, out of seven, are out today - on holidays, or sick.

metalrabbit's character, Emma, so neither of ye are to beat me with sticks, assassinate me, or anything of that sort.
It rained here today. That doesn't actually convey what happened - "rain" evokes images of separate drops, say, and something you can fend off with an umbrella. What happened here today was more oceanic. If it was travelling sideways, you'd use words like "tsunami" and "help!" and "run!" a lot.
I am suffering from an urge to italicise wildly.
