I have an otter. inannajones, with her usual present-getting brilliance, adopted me an otter in the zoo as an anniversary present. We'll be going to see him or her as soon as the package arrives. This is fantastic. Otter. Otter otter otter.
Otters are fun. We have an Otter Sanctuary near here in the forest with an assortment of fun ponds and things for them to play in.
The ones we like the best though, live at the nearby Owl Sanctuary. A pair of siblings rejected by their mother, called Lennox & Lewis. They climb up the side of the netting and almost demand to have their tummy tickled. What they like best though is being splashed with water from a tub just outside their enclosure. They run around in it, roll on their backs and try to catch the spashes in their mouths, they go totally potty for it. We could have spent all afternoon just splashing them. Mind you, that was last summer, they are probably all grown up and sensible now.
