I have discovered something: I am not grossed out by squid. Show me red meat, and I'll deal fine. Show me breast of chicken, and I'm still fine. Show me a whole chicken, and I start to regret things a little, and let that chicken have one single bit of gut, feather, or other non-palatable part visible, and I start to feel queasy. Likewise, gutting fish is something that is just not going to happen. But squid - no problem. I tried two yesterday, and did five in quick succession today - calamari, now, nothing bigger. Yank out the head and soft parts, pull out the quill (the freakiest looking organ in existence), skin the pouch, wash off the ink and cut into rings, no hassle. I think I overdid the chilli while cooking it, though...
