The weekend was pretty damn good. We - myself,
inannajones,
mr_wombat,
metalrabbit, and
caturah all got a taxi in on Saturday morning, and arrived as the trade stands were just finishing setting up.
mr_wombat and I got free tickets, since we'd written scenarios. We scooted quickly around the trade stands, bought a few goods, and settled in to a corner to play a few boardgames, including the D&D boardgame, which
mr_wombat bought, and Scrabble, which I won for the first time, like, ever. around this time, I heard people discussing last year's Planescape scenario in glowing terms, and was well chuffed. When we got tired of the con - and
mr_wombat finished running his D&D scenario, we headed into town, and ate in a Mexican place in South Great George's street. It was very good indeed.
Sunday, we didn't go to the 'con, but played an Age of Legends session instead. And that too was good.
And then Monday, I got up, had a leisurely breakfast, and went in to ren my scenario in the con. As soon as I walked in, I was called over by one of the trade stand guys, who'd got hold of a book I was looking for for me. Then the DM briefing, where both the other guys who were to run it were impressed, and then the game itself. It went well. My table managed to kill Hitler, as opposed to the other two, one of whom had a nun chasing Hitler, and a wizard chasing the nun chasing Hitler, and an SAS guy chasing the wizard chasing the nun chasing Hitler. The other group went off course about halfway through the written material, and took a steampowered metal dinosaur home to London instead, stomping on the car of the director of MI5 on the way through. But everyone enjoyed it.
One of the guys running the game recommended me to a Warpcon staffer to write a scenario for them, and two guys - who didn't know who I was, other than someone at the 'con - spent the bus ride back into town enthusing about the whole thing.
And then when I got home,
inannajones had dinner waiting, a fire burning, and the sitting room scented and lit by candles. Perfect. Absolutely wonderful.
Of course, I'm already planning new con scenarios in my head now...
