Oi, mr_wombat. I think this design diary of Monte Cook's ties in to something you were saying a few days ago - about not letting one set of mechanics overcome another.
Well I've seen one or two D20 books that present the same material from about 360 different perspectives so it obviously needed saying but I'm not sure I fully see his point. As long as the flavour is different then you should be okay (since ultimately the only major diference between divine and arcane magic are flavour and psionics aren't wildly different to sorcery) Equally I'm wary of introducing two systems (say for psychic powers and cabbalistic magic) that are too different from each other.
