The aches appearing in my joints are not there. The sandpapery feeling in the throat is non-existant. There is no incipient headache. They are like the spoon. I am not getting the flu.

If I repeat it often enough, it becomes true, right?

Have you ever tried Zinc lozenges? They've done wonders for me in reducing the severity and duration of colds and flus. You have to take them when the symptoms start for best effect.

The brand name I'm familiar with is Cold-Eeze, but I'm sure that's not the only brand.

Sometimes you'd be amazed at the power of Belief can do. Seriously.

Probably not

At least if you don't have a temperature. Probable just a common cold that you aren't getting.

Do you have some blackcurrant (mustaviinimarja) juice? Try mix it with boiling water and drink hot. If you don't have any and you drop in Finland during winter, I'll give you a bottle, we have lots of of (frozen). It's very good for cold and especially to sore throat.

Mmm, you sound like me.
"I don't have the flu. It's just a sore throat. Really. With a side of head cold and chest cold. Must stop commuting by bike in rain. It's only a cold. I don't have a fever - just sweating and shivering because I need to adjust the room temperature. Really. The muscle aches are from biking and sleeping wrong. Joints, too. Ok, maybe a little fever, but nothing serious. It's just a little cold. The nausea's from my cooking, because it's just a cold. Friday I was just tired, that's why I needed help walking, and then spent the weekend on the couch. Just a cold."

I recommend lots of vitamin C, echinacea, & zinc lozenges, and lots and lots of fluid. And rest. good luck in getting over it soon!
