Evil

eBay, I am rapidly concluding, is a place of evil. One of my auctions sold, and with shipping, it'll come to $25. I can't get money out of Paypal, though, not living in one of the countries where that's possible, so I'll just use the money from there, and covering my own eBay purchases is as good a way as any. I have a few bids in on gaming stuff of one kind or another, mostly. And I am really having to resist things like bags of uncleaned Roman and Byzantine coins, and bags of uncut gems, or fire opals, or African masks... it's this great big global marketplace full of cool stuff. I'm doing well on the resisting, mostly.

Oh, absolutely. Emeralds, rubies, sapphires. I have a bunch of uncut emeralds knocking around in the study from the last time I gave in. They're junk, mind - not usable, except for one or two in any given batch, and the rest are too small or flawed to do anything useful with. At least, that's my experience - I know some people have got some really nice ones.

I was under the impression that money could go from credit card to paypal but not the other way around, at least not until paypal sets up with the banks here.

Technically, yes. Whether they're good for anything is questionable; good cuttable rough isn't cheap. Still, some of them can look cool as is. I have some rough diamonds that are pretty nifty and that I'm contemplating using. I also got some decent rough sapphire that I plan on using as is.

If I suddenly rack up hundreds, I might go for that. As it is, I doubt I'll make more than I can spend on eBay, LJ, etc.
