Evil

eBay, I am rapidly concluding, is a place of evil. One of my auctions sold, and with shipping, it'll come to $25. I can't get money out of Paypal, though, not living in one of the countries where that's possible, so I'll just use the money from there, and covering my own eBay purchases is as good a way as any. I have a few bids in on gaming stuff of one kind or another, mostly. And I am really having to resist things like bags of uncleaned Roman and Byzantine coins, and bags of uncut gems, or fire opals, or African masks... it's this great big global marketplace full of cool stuff. I'm doing well on the resisting, mostly.

Oh, absolutely. Emeralds, rubies, sapphires. I have a bunch of uncut emeralds knocking around in the study from the last time I gave in. They're junk, mind - not usable, except for one or two in any given batch, and the rest are too small or flawed to do anything useful with. At least, that's my experience - I know some people have got some really nice ones.
