Looks like things are getting sorted out for a serious heavy fighting practice this weekend. Although it's in Kent.

This means taking Friday off to travel, which I've now arranged, and Cernac is working on sorting out transport. Looks like car (whether hired or driven by someone else SCAdian), ferry, and motorway is the best method - armour and swords being awkward to transport by plane, aside from anything else. There will be no less than five knights at this event, apparently, so with any luck at all, I'll authorise.

I've authorized 50 or so fighters over the years. Unless you run into a crazy strict marshal, it should be easy to do (I authorized my first time I ever fought).

The goal is to make sure that you're good enough to not be a threat to yourself and your opponents. You don't have to be good at all, just be safe. Essentially, knowing the rule sof the list (including legal target areas), being able to hit with sufficiant force and control, and being able to block basic shots and not getting rattled when you get hit should just about do it.
