There was a weekend there somewhere.

The Kingfisher's Way game on Friday night went very well indeed, with the players thinking well enough to avert a major disaster. Congratulations on your first plotline dismemberment, guys. Happily, I hadn't developed it that far. Of course, any game set in a bathhouse with a fire genasi, a necromancer, a bored noblewoman hitting on a PC, and a murder is bound to be good, right?

Saturday, I took [livejournal.com profile] miroza_cat to the vet for her annual checkup, and we did a lot of cleaning up - I got the study to an acceptable state, and once I get those bookshelves, after payday, it'll stay that way. Pinning things to the walls makes a huge difference in the feeling of the room. It's a little chilly in this weather, but so is the rest of the house. I begin to understand why the Victorians and Edwardians wore so many layers of clothing.

Sunday was meet-the-landfolks, and then [livejournal.com profile] graylion's experimental hot smoke/barbecue-over-peat cookery. Best cabbage I've ever had, and the mustard was really excellent.

The potential of the murder mystery in fantasy milieux has been greatly under-utilised. I love it whenever it crops up, which isn't often.

You might like Jon Courtney Grimwood's Arabesk series, if you haven't already tried them.
