If you google on the name, it certainly pulls up a lot of similar references, with the same sort of story.

And what I was impressed by was that there are several variants of the text; the sites are not all cribbed from each other, but there are more than two independent originals.

What does one have to do to land on a highly neat posting number such as this one?

Seen the story in paper on eccentrics before!

I believe the novel The Underground Man (by Mick Jackson, ISTR) is loosely based on his life; it includes an author's note to the effect that it's based on a true story.

I remember watching something on the telly about some underground labyrinth. may have been this one.

Quite bizarre, all right. There's also stories about... hmmm, can't remember the name, but AFAICR, the guy who built the Marino Casino in Dublin, having an underground tunnel constructed linking it to the city centre. It's been "lost" for years, apparently - but I worked with a guy once who swore he played in this tunnel as a kid.

Needless to say, seeing as the route would have been relatively close to the house of a certain rather famous Fairview-dwelling author, it would definitely be featuring in any Dublin-based Buffy game I run...
