At 06:55 this morning, the cat woke up downstairs, and finding nobody in sight, proceeded to have hysterics. She came howling up the stairs, and then sat beside the bed and wailed at me until I picked her up and calmed her. At 07:00, the clock-radio went off, not with the usual music, but with a deep male voice announcing "Le monde - et la France - attend!".

It's going to be a strange morning. I can smell it.

Lyric FM... the clock is set a few minutes ahead, so that was actually on at about 06:50 rather than 07:00.

"hmm avant enfants a la patrie" would have made more sense then....

Can I corroborate that with a strong smell of weirdness around here too? With added restless dreams and randomness.

I love the radio thing. It's as if you slipped into a parallel universe where the whole world is a totalitarian francophone superstate...

Now that is a Christopher Priest novel waiting to be made...
