I bought a suit today. It's not just any suit, but proper evening wear, two buttons, shiny stripe on the trouserleg, and so on. I was expecting to pay €200 for it, and ended up paying only €127, which was a rather pleasant surprise. I already have a wingtip shirt; I need cufflinks and then I'm sorted for disguising myself as someone respectable.

[livejournal.com profile] inannajones also introduced me to a winebar/coffeeshop, Dunne & Crescenzi on South Frederick Street, which is hereby declared my new home in the city centre. Being in public, I couldn't express my appreciation for the food and coffee in quite the tones I would have liked. But in my head, I did. Oh man, that cheese.

Town is feeling pleasantly seasonal already, and even the crowds weren't too insane.

[Edit: Earbug music may or may not exist. I'm perfectly capable of rearranging and rerecording songs in my head, and keeping the MP3, as it were. I'm fairly sure the Proclaimers never actually recorded the song from Guys and Dolls that starts "I got the horse right here / The name is Paul Revere" - but they should ha', and in ma heid, they ha'.]

I must admit being rather wary of such a low price. I'd expect to pay about 600 € for that kind of thing ...

What is the material?

I'm hoping it's sackcloth, seeing as today I booked a tux for next Tuesday for €55...

Mind you, seeing as the last time I wore one was for my debs, 17 years ago, and I've gone up (or rather, out) a few inches since then, maybe rental was the way to go :-)
