Heavy Rain

I'm usually a pretty sound sleeper. I don't think I've ever been woken by weather - I've even slept through some loud thunderstorms. So you can imagine my confusion on being woken just before four this morning by rain. It was incredibly heavy, so that the room sounded like the inside of a drum, and the window was making noises like it might come in. I opened the bathroom window to assure myself it wasn't hail or frogs or shrapnel or something, but no, just raindrops the size of marbles.

Having seen that, it was bizarre to step out into a cold clear morning.

and what a lovely morning it was! I totally missed the rain but am glad that i didn't follow my plan to hang up laundry outside last night.
