This is strong stuff. Brian Fies presents a comic (nominated for the Eisner Award) about his mother's cancer.

Great comic so far, though I haven't finished it.

I just wanted to say that the gamma knife is an impressive and slightly scary piece of equipment. My father worked in nuclear medicine (which in turn works pretty much directly with oncology - cancer treatment) for years (he just retired due to an injury- long story), I've read the documentation for the gamma knife and how to set it up - i found it on his shelf and browsed it for kicks. it requires about a billion degrees of attention just to prep your hospital/clinic to install it, from a custom suite with certain fixtures to the appropriate training for your staff. Very intensive, and fascinating to one such as myself who's enamoured with medicine.
