This is rather strange. Firefox seems to think the bit of Javascript I'm debugging is in kanji (or something).

Anyone seen anything like this before?

Try checking your browser to see if it's configured for Kanji - it should be wired for Unicode. See View -> Character Encoding

If that's not it, take a look at the text encoding in the page and see what sort of ASCII it has?

Looks like Chinese to me... Have you installed any chinese language packs?
Been to any Chinese Websites? Some sites can do strange things to your browser even without malware...

All I can think of is that there's something at the beginning of the file that's messing up the encoding. Does it look ok in text editor? Perhaps you could try resaving it.
