There were predictions of a cold winter. Here's a screenshot of Metcheck's prediction for next Friday:

We don't usually get weather like that in January, let along mid-November...

Are those strong winds? Wind speeds baffle me. But wow, that is something to prepare for.

Medium nasty. They've been worse this year. But it'll feel coooold.

It's freeze-the-balls-off-a-brass-monkey weather here in Oxford - no wind, though. Oooh, I hope it snows.

Doesn't bode well for me next week either. And I was so looking forward to temperatures above freezing. It's turning into a bad winter here in Iceland too - the ski slopes are already open, and that doesn't normally happen until the beginning of January.

Iceland is also subject to the mighty North Atlantic Oscillation?

here was me thinking that the proper reaction to that would be to refuse to leave the house on Friday whatsoever, until I realised that I'm going to be in England, where it is going to be even colder. aiaiai...

Yep. Bigger landmass, lower temperatures, probably minus a few degrees in daytime... :D
