In an apparent attempt to force Ireland to actually become the 51st State, Dun Laoghaire is holding a 4th of July Festival. So far, the only evidence of such is that one of the off-licences is giving 15% off all wine from Wednesday to Sunday. Doesn't seem very American to me - surely that should be 15% off Budweiser? It's a project of the "Dublin Riviera Company". Apparently, Dun Laoghaire also celebrates Canada Day and Bastille Day.

Dun Laoghaire's held a 4th of July festival for the last few years. The one year I was down there it was good enough, as cheesy things go.

Yeah? There's been no other sign of it, and Dun Laoghaire's the one bit of my commute where I do pay attention. What's usually in it?

Re:

Can't actually remember. It's been a few years. I seem to remember there being stalls and stuff though. Although I also seem to remember that it wasn't actually *on* July 4th, but on the neares Saturday to it or something. Lots of flags, US boats at the harbour, bands, that sort of thing. And I think fireworks in the night.
