Sneezing

So I woke up this morning at about six o'clock, and started to sneeze. Not just one or two, but big bouts of non-stop sneezing, twelve or fourteen sneezes in a row. Actually taking a full breath when this is going on is hard. It hasn't stopped for more than a few minutes - I was dressed and ready to head out to work when another bout made me re-consider. It's like really bad hay-fever, but I can't imagine there being much pollen around on a wet day in October. I'm going to head out to a pharmacy and get some antihistamines shortly, but I'm rather mystified by it all.

Are you using a new washing oweder or brought something new into the flat, such as using an air freshner, flowers or some second hand clothes etc which could set off an allergy?

I was wondering about that, but I can't think of anything. I got some clothes at the weekend, but they're brand new, and I wore some of them on Monday and yesterday without any ill effect.

I think late september warmth and the rubbish summer we had has kinda convinced some of the plants that it's spring again. I've seen some spring blooming around.

Sounds familiar. I had / have a chronic hay-fever that sticks with me the entire year regardless of season. Though it got better after I moved, I still get the occasional sneezy day or two. When it's on it is just as you described.
I hope the antihistamines work(ed)!

Poor lad!

Actually I wanted to pick your brains. Can you recommend some good places to eat in Dublin, preferably vegetarian or what do a good vegetarian menu? I have some friends going on a trip shortly who were wondering.

A lot of the Chinese restaurants do good vegetarian dishes. The Good World, in South Great George's Street, and Wongs in Ranelagh are both excellent. Also, Govinda's on Aungier Street is a Hare Krishna-run vegetarian café, possibly useful for lunch. I don't know offhand of any actual vegetarian restaurants, but I'll ask around a bit.

As well as Govinda's (ones on Abbey Street and Baggot Street, too), there is also Juice on South Great Georges's Street and my personal favourite, Cornucopia on Wicklow Street. Also, Cafe Fresh at the top of the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre is pretty fab.

fungus spores? We're right in the midst of mushroom season.

BTW, I tried to reply to this earlier at work. For some reason replying to your post gets the Agency IT department ACCESS DENIED while I can still reply to other people's posts!

Clearly, I am dangerous. Fungus spores are indeed a possibility, hadn't thought of that. It cleared up pretty well with antihistamines.
