What are your career goals? Are they the same/related_to/completely_disconnected_from your personal goals?

The term "career goals" implies a whole lot more investment in the concept of a structured career than I have or think is wise. Basically, my job, the jobs of most people I work with, and the entire online gambling industry, didn't exist worth speaking of ten years ago. I fully expect that similar changes will happen down the line, and that I'll be working in something like search efficiency motivation consultancy in a few years time. Or nanotech spellcasting or post-singularity cargo cult promotion. Setting goals in a career, to my mind, closes off other possibilities.

Putting it another way, my career goal is to make a large pile of money, extract self from rat race, and do things I want to do instead of things I have to do.

Are you still using GTD? If so, is it still working for you? If not, why did you stop?

I am, though not in work, because I don't have enough control of the processes around me for it to work. It informs my working methods, but can't be used directly. For my own projects, yes, still in definite use, although I need to make some more changes to make sure that the lists remain up-to-date and accessible. Routine is important, at some level, and December doesn't allow for much routine.

How well do you remember how you felt 10 years ago?

Ten years ago falls into that gap between my stopping keeping paper diaries, and my starting keeping online ones. I think, however, that I was still trying to work out what I was doing, even in the short term, having only recently quit college and started working. And I was incredibly enthusiastic about the Internet.

What are your thoughts on the US Presidential Primaries, and the upcoming Presidential
Election?

I'm trying not to think too much about them, to be honest. I hope Obama gets it, and beyond that, I get frustrated with an archaic voting system, a voting population half of whom have their heads in the sand, and widespread control of the process by corporations.

What are you gazing wistfully at, in your avatar photo?

That's not wistfulness, it's the stunned look of a man who's just climbed up the east side of the Glen of the Downs.

1) My comics blog looks boring! What should I do to make it less boring?

Add comics? Scan a page or even a single panel from some obscure comic, blow it up to massive proportions, and use it as a background. Or add spot illustrations of characters from comics you like.

2) Ninja or pirate?

Pirate. Ninjas very often have to do what people tell them, pirates don't so much, and usually have the mutiny option. Also, far better fashion options. I'd look pretty stupid in black silk pyjamas, but I like to think I'd cut a fine figure as a pirate. Further: rum.

3) Would you like me to do Torchwood second series episode reviews for Duke Street? I promise they will have more content than "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Yes, please. I'll be writing some of my own, so they'll work as differing points of view.

4) Ditto anime reviews?

In keeping with the theme of the site, scifi and fantasy anime reviews would be very welcome. Although I think that covers a lot of anime.

5) Is there a game this Friday?

There is indeed. There nearly wasn't, but the other thing that might have happened has been postponed, which is good, because it would have take the whole weekend, and I need to sleep in a few mornings. I need to get that description of Viridian's estate written up and printed out before Friday evening, too.

6) Burns Night Supper in a couple of weeks: yay or nay?

That would be a yay. More haggis, plz.
