There is darkness, pain, and a growing sensation that something has gone very, very wrong. You're just not sure what. You remember that you're a Legionnaire, that you serve the King - and you know what you can do. They must really have drummed that into you, though, because you can't remember a damn thing otherwise, not even your name.

There's movement around you - other people waking up too? - and then there's a man's voice that reaches down into your guts, and pulls you to attention. "For the King!" it roars, "Legionnaires! We've crashed, we have memory problems. Call out your section, and we can start sorting things out!"

OOC: I'd be inclined to agree with you. I have to admit my initial reaction to it before rereading and looking at the poll was that we were being asked to play components or files in a computer - which shows where my head has been lately.

(I do think the idea of Tron after a system crash might be an interesting idea - and had me making a few notes earlier)

Uh-oh... I picked cavalry, and if your guess is indeed the case, um, has anybody seen the greasy smear on the ground that i used to call "horse"? :D

oh man, I hope so. A Cavalryman without a mount is just... Infantry. *shudder*

With all these assassins around, a defensive mage seems like a sane choice.

Crashed? Memory problems? Sounds like a job for the IT Helpdesk!

"Hello Helpdesk? This is Dropshop Eridani 81 - we seem to have crashed into a mountain while attempting an insertion ... all the lights have gone out"

"Yes, sir - have you tried turning your Dropshop on and off?"

So stop trying to second guess him and enjoy the kind of experience normal gamers in normal games situations get! Just effing respond! It's not a test! You can't get it wrong! :P

God bless you, Damage Control, you and all your spare parts. (Now fix those fracing vehicles!)

I LIKE Logistics. One of the issues I have with a LOT of novels is that the Logistics are totally ignored, making me ask all sorts of embarrassing questions.

I think assassins are boring.

So far we appear to be a cavalry unit, that is very well organised ("logistics") and can absorb heavy fire ("Damage Control") but we have too may Officers ("you're not in charge"), so we must be the HQ unit separated from the main body.

oh and we must have had a bunch of those creepy assassin types attached to our unit. Never liked them much, with their concealment suits and noise cancelling boots!

Knowing nothing about this game world whatsoever, very interesting composition indeed.

As Cav: I've got six different bosses telling me what to do, eight guys trying to duct tape my lance back together, nine more fighting over how many pairs of socks go in my rucksack, five shady people sneaking around and stealing my rations, three bookworms in pointy hats waiting for the bomb to drop (I like these guys), and one lonely guy in a dress who's got all the fireballs. Air Combat looks down on us, Air Support drops friendly fire on us, and Infantry... Well, ok, at least we Cav have the one-up on someone...
